This device is a pair of electrodes with an adjustable non-inductive resistance connected in series to a power supply with a sinusoidal rated output voltage of 10KV, then the electrode is short-circuited and the resistor is adjusted so that the current passing through is 1mA, and an arc is continuously generated between the two electrodes, so as to assess whether the test specimen will cause overheating or ignition.
